Toby Flenderson Sketch

If you look up the word "gross" on Wikipedia you'll find some words that have to do with the "Economy" . . . boring right, who needs to know anything about that? But more importantly for our topic, you'll find this descrtiption . . . .

"Gross", a slang term meaning "disgusting" or "grotesque" EXAMPLE of GROSS - The actor, "Paul Lieberstein" better known as "Toby Flenderson" from "The Office".

Need I say more?

Quick sketch while sitting at Starbucks.

A very quick gesture sketch, again while at a Starbucks.

Oh, I like the quick sketches as well- really nice loose feel to them.

Great likeness of Paul Lieberstein! It's amazing that they actually use him as an example of gross! Pop Culture has popped into reality.

Are you going to put all of these into a group scene eventually?

Very nice work!

Any tips on drawing people without them knowing it and getting self conscious?

Thanks guys, great subjects make for fun drawings.

Jeff, as to your question, I don't have any tips, I just draw who I want and try not to worry about what they think. With some people you can tell that they're not into it . . . I just draw and try to not make it so obvious, I don't stare at the person the whole time, I only look at them every so often . . . my live cafe sketches are done very fast, no long studies.
